Town Hall in Brezno, centre of the Horehronie region. It is surrounded by the slopes of the Low Tatras and Slovenské Rudohorie Mountains. Brezno is the gateway to the regions of the Low Tatras and Polana. The surrounding nature with rock and carst formations and waterfalls is lovely and admirable all year round. The oldest document (1265) of town history is the deed of King Bela IV. In 1380 Brezno gained the municipal rights. The name of the town (Bryzabanya or Breznobanya) is connected to the local mining industry. Later crafts organized in guilds were established.
