The Chain Bridge is one of the more tangible landmarks of Budapest. The bridge connecting Pest and Buda across the Danube and was the first union of these two cities. The bridge was named Sjecheny by Sjecheny Earl who took the initiative to build the bridge in 1836. The bridge is 375m long and 16m wide. In 1889 the residents marched on the chain bridge for freedom and independence. Since then, the bridge became a symbol of Hungarian liberty. Budapest, Hungary.
