Mia Pagoda (Chùa Mía, Sùng Nghiêm tự) was built in 1632 by Ms Nguyen Thi Rong, the wife of Trinh Trang, known as Ba Chua Mia (Bà Chúa Mía), or Lady Mia, the patron of sugarcane planters. Growing sugar cane was one of the main jobs in Duong Lam Village at that time. After 1632, a mistress of Lord Trinh enlarged the temple to turn it into a full-sized pagoda compound.
