The Akashi Kaikyō Bridge (明石海峡大橋) or Pearl Bridge is an almost 4km bridge finished in 1998 that crosses the Akashi Strait and links the city of Kobe on the mainland of Honshu to Iwaya on Awaji Island, in Japan
