Château de Vincennes, Vincennes castle

Vincennes château or Vincennes castle was mainly built in the second half of the XIVth century by King Charles V (1364-1380), around the ancient manor of Saint Louis (1226-1270). The keep is the only remaining residence in France of a sovereign from the Middle Ages. This together with the Sainte-Chapelle that was completed in the XVIth century constitute the high points of the visit. The château is home to the Military History department as well as various departments of the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Culture and Communication.
