The East Station is situated at a distance of 5 km from the heart of the old city of Lisbon and was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The work was completed in 1998 at the time of the World Exhibition held in the Portuguese capital, which was involved in a project aimed at re-qualifying and up-grading the city's structures on a grand scale. The station constitutes a node for interchanges on various levels between different means of transport: rail, buses, underground and taxis. The entrances on both the east and west sides make the building an important connecting element in the urban fabric, capable of joining together two parts of the city that were previously separated from one another by the railway, and of linking the metropolitan area with the outskirts.

Farol da Guia in the Cascais city During the age of the Discoveries, Lisbon was one of the busiest zones of the Portuguese coast, and there came a time when it began to need the support of neighbouring villages. Farol da Guia Cascais, that had always been linked to fishing and seafaring, was one of the most important sites in helping the Portuguese capital, and thus it was the first to have a lighthouse installed in order to direct the boats to its ports. Farol da Guia The Farol da Guia (Guide Lighthouse) was the first to be erected, in 1610, and a little chapel was also built nearby to give spiritual support to the sailores, receiving them with the following message: Guidance of seamen.

In the weekend the boats rest in the port. The city is a busy commercial and industrial center as well as the gateway to the Aegean Region. Turkey's Aegean shores are among the loveliest landscapes in the country. The magnificent coastline, lapped by the clear water of the Aegean Sea, abounds in vast and pristine beaches surrounded by olive groves, rocky crags and pine woods. Dotted with idyllic fishing harbors, popular holiday villages, and the remains of ancient civilizations, this region offers an exceptionally attractive venue for meetings, incentives and conferences.

Concentration Camp of Auschwitz was the largest of the Nazi German extermination camps, along with a number of concentration camps, comprising three main camps and 40 to 50 sub-camps. Auschwitz is the German name for the nearby town of Oswiecim (pronounced oz vay chim), situated about 60 kilometers (37 miles) west of Kraków in southern Poland. Beginning in 1940, Nazi Germany built several concentration camps and an extermination camp in the area, which at the time was under German occupation. The Auschwitz camps were a major element in the perpetration of the Holocaust; at least 1.1 million people were killed there, of whom over 90% were Jews

Monserrate Palace I Until the eighteenth century, a chapel existed on this site. In 1790, Gerard DeVisme rented the property from the Mello e Castro family. His rental contract obliged him to restore the estate, witch had been ruined in the earthquake of 1755. DeVisme had made little use of this new residence and ended up by subletting it to William Beckford in 1794, who also made alterations to the building. After Sir Francis Cook purchased the property in 1856, from the Mello e Castro family, his substantially rebuilt the then ruined building give it the exotic features that it possesses today. However, as José Augusto França says: Monserrate has a somewhat different stenographic sense, based on a greater wealth of archaeological details, constituted by its inspirational roots which - via English sources - are grafted on to the Moghul architecture. A unique case of Romanticism in Portugal.

Topkapi Palace was home to all the Ottoman sultans until the reign of Abdulmecid I (1839-1860), a period of nearly four centuries. Over the years the palace complex underwent constant evolution. Some buildings disappeared, destroyed by fire, earthquakes or demolished to make way for new buildings. The palace was therefore not a single massive building in the western tradition, constructed at one go, but an organic structure which was never static, and reflected the styles and tastes of many periods in many independent units with individual functions.

The Wawel Hill in Kraków The significance of the Wawel hill comes in part from its combination of political and religious structures and functions. The cathedral holds the relics of St. Stanisław and stands directly adjacent to the Royal Castle. The hill has long had a religious function; some of the oldest extant architectural remains are those of the Rotunda of the Virgin Mary, which may be visited today in a tour that takes the visitors into the walls and foundations of the present-day buildings

Those who visit Castelo Branco may observe two distinct areas: the ancient Medieval town, with its steep and narrow streets where many Manueline doorways can still be admired, and a great modern zone, characteristic of a developing city. The Proença Júnior Museum (archaeological finds, 16th-century tapestries, etc.), the Religious Art Museum, the handsome Cruzeiro de S. João (15th-century cross) and all of the old town

I took this photo from the 29th floor of the hotel. For me this is the second most beautiful city of Turkey. Izmir’s history goes back to 3000 B.C. according to the results of historical knowledge and archaeological excavations. Findings and many investigations have been made to enlighten Izmir’s history: The continuous excavations on the Bayrakli ridges by Prof. Dr. Ekrem Akurgal since 1959, the discovery of the Zeus Altar by the German archaeologist Carl Humman in Pergamon (Bergama) between 1866 and 1878, the discovery of the Artemis Temple in 1869 by the British Wood and the continuous excavations by Austrian archaeologists at certain intervals of the city of ancient Ephesus since 1904.
