View of the Sydney Opera House by night, one of the best-known contemporary building in Australia and the world. Its imaginative design came from an international competition, won in 1956 by the Danish architect Joern Utzon. Sydney Opera House provides a venue for many performing arts: opera, ballet, theatre and symphony Orchestra, and presents a wide range of productions on its own account.
