Monastère Lainici, Lainici monastery

Lainici Monastery (ro: Mănăstirea Lainici) was built between 1812 and 1847 the noblemen of the region on a hill dominating the Jiu Valley. It houses the beautiful interior frescoes dating from 1860 and an iconostasis consists of icons in the Byzantine style. Lainici Monastery, located in the middle of the beautiful gorge of the Jiu Valley, 25 km away from Petrosani and 32 km from Targu Jiu, Romania.
