Phare Guia, Farol da Guia

Farol da Guia in the Cascais city During the age of the Discoveries, Lisbon was one of the busiest zones of the Portuguese coast, and there came a time when it began to need the support of neighbouring villages. Farol da Guia Cascais, that had always been linked to fishing and seafaring, was one of the most important sites in helping the Portuguese capital, and thus it was the first to have a lighthouse installed in order to direct the boats to its ports. Farol da Guia The Farol da Guia (Guide Lighthouse) was the first to be erected, in 1610, and a little chapel was also built nearby to give spiritual support to the sailores, receiving them with the following message: Guidance of seamen.
